Dr. Levison will be speaking on different models of how the early solar system might have evolved. He will in particular discuss the Nice model of solar system evolution, with an emphasis on how our Moon provides evidence for this.

IYA Lunar Star Parties

As part of the International Year of Astronomy, the IYA Summer Star Party on August 1 will focus on observing the Moon. Excitement is building around the 40th anniversary of the Apollo XI mission as well as around NASA’s current Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) and Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) missions. NSN clubs are encouraged to participate.
